Summer Flies

Summer flies by, that is. We had a busy summer with lots of family! First Nana and Pop came to visit in CA for a month, then Uncle Matthew followed and stayed for a week. The day after Uncle Matthew departed, we all flew across the country to Pennsylvania, where we spent three weeks with Grandma and got to meet lots of family and friends. It was a great first summer for us all as a new family!

The ladies are turning into smiley chatty little bugs, which is much nicer than fussy bumpkins. We have a sort of nap and sleep routine started, which has been a big help in making happy babies :) Today, however, was Day 1 of Mission Pacifier Elimination. You see, the girls learned to fall asleep with pacifiers and had begun waking up hourly during the night unable to fall back to sleep unless a parent fetched a pacifier and inserted it back into a baby mouth. This set-up was working fine for the babies but not so fine for the sleep-deprived parents. So today it was down for naps and down for bed sans pacifiers. I have never heard so much crying in a day before. We're going to stick it out for 5 days and see where we get with it. Because now that the babies are sleeping well, we're going to work on getting the whole family sleeping well.

This is a short update just to update since it's been, oh, 2 months (how'd that happen?!), but we'll be back with more in days to come!
