Happy New Year!

Since we last wrote, here are some of the super extra exciting occurrences of the end of last year and the beginning of 2008:

- A fun New Year's Eve celebration that began with dinner at Shelley and Josh's and continued on to a party at Kate and William's. Kara was happy because she ATE yummy snacks all night long, while Julian finally got to have a bit of rum. We have some photos that make Kara look less than classy - think white trash pregnancy (maybe, just maybe, we'll post them). It was a fun evening. At one point, Jimmy, Kara's first friend from PSU, just looked at her, stated 'You're pregnant', and chuckled... I guess we have come a long way from our days in college (well, okay, not really). We had a great time ringing in the New Year, and Kara enjoyed driving a manual transmission on the hills of San Francisco (that is, burning the clutch) while dropping off drunkards at the BART Station. Hope your hangovers were fun!!!

- More cleaning out of the house. Really. And more to come still.

- Relaxing and good cooking. Julian's recent culinary achievement was a Thai-style fried rice with shrimp, pork, chile, and cilantro. Kara just whipped up a big pot of black bean soup, some of which will go towards beginning our stock of freezer meals so that we can still eat once the twins arrive!

- Rain. Lots of rain here in California. We need it, it's all good.

- Kara fishing a spider out of the toilet at 6:45 AM this past Tuesday. Rescue successful. Said spider now living on or around door frame of bathroom. Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you. Yes, others can include spiders.

- Today, a lovely appointment with our midwife.

We hope that everyone is enjoying a healthy and peaceful start to the New Year, and we're sending our best to you all.
